The planning tools are one of the core functions of the RED CAD APP; they enable the precise planning of lines, pipes, and other components. Unlike drawing elements, the planning tools contain attributes that enable measurements.
The individual tools are described and explained in more detail below.
pic electro & plumbing planningtools
This allows you to plan surface-mounted lines and straight pipes. Planning works like drawing with lines.
A left-click sets the starting point, another left-click places the line at an editing point, and a double-click completes it.
As with lines, the start and end of the line can be displayed differently, for example, as an arrow or a dot.
These tools are used to plan concealed lines, curved pipes, and ventilation ducts. Editing is performed in the same way as with the Curve drawing tool.
Left-click to start the curve, and another left-click to set a bend point where the curve's curve can be adjusted. Any number of bend points can be set. As with a line, the curve is completed with a double-click.
After placing the curve, the curve's curve can be adjusted using the bend point's auxiliary lines.
This tool is used to draw multiple lines or pipes simultaneously.
Clicking the "Multiple Line" or "Multiple Pipe" button opens the Multiple Line Wizard window. Here, you can set all the properties of the desired elements.
Number – Specifies the number of lines / pipes to be drawn.
Apply First Line to All – Applies the settings of the first line to all lines / pipes to be drawn.
Distance – Specifies the distance between lines / pipes.
The circle below the arrow symbol determines which line / pipe the docking points should be placed on.
Using the selection fields, you can select the line / pipe start, end, pattern, color, and thickness.
Using the bottom three buttons in the window, you can cancel, reset the settings, or start drawing the elements by clicking OK.
These functions can be used to plan channels, pipes, and cable ducts. Unlike line functions, which are usually represented with a single line, channel functions draw channels from two or more lines. The planning process itself is very similar to drawing lines.
The individual tools are explained in more detail below.
Channel – For planning cable ducts, can always be freely drawn at any angle.
Ventilation Duct – For planning ventilation ducts, is placed like a curve.
Wastewater Pipe – For wastewater pipes, is planned at a 45° angle by default. Can be planned at a free angle by holding down the CTRL/STRG key.
Wastewater Channel – For wastewater channels, is also planned at a 45° angle by default. Can be planned at a free angle by holding down the CTRL/STRG key.
With the dimensioning tools, objects on the plan can be measured and labeled.
The available tools are explained individually below.
Distance – This tool can be used to determine distances and draw dimension lines. The first left-click sets the starting point, the second the end point, and a third places the dimension line. The dimension line is drawn at a 90° angle by default; by holding down the "Alt" key, the dimension line can also be drawn freely.
Dimension Chain – Like the distance tool, the dimension chain is used to determine distances and draw dimension lines, but multiple dimension lines can be drawn in one step.
The first left-click starts the dimension chain, another left-click places a line and starts a new one, a double-click switches to placing the dimension lines, and a final double-click places the dimension lines.
Auxiliary Cross Point
Used to determine the center point of a room, for example, for planning lighting.
Hold down the left mouse button to draw the auxiliary cross point; release the button to complete the drawing.
